About the Role

As a Facilities Supervisor at ThredUp you’ll be responsible for ensuring our four distribution centers are safe, efficient, compliant, and well-maintained. You’ll lead a team that manages preventive and reactive maintenance, safety programs, and vendor relationships. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic oversight to support smooth operations, reduce costs, and create a safe, high-functioning environment where our teams can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance Oversight

  • Champion a safety-first culture across all facility operations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and local safety regulations.

  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; document and resolve issues promptly.

  • Oversee fire suppression systems, alarms, emergency lighting, and PPE use.

  • Lead incident investigations and develop corrective action plans.

  • Train technicians and team members on safety protocols and emergency response.

  • Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and aligned with thredUP’s environmental and sustainability goals.
     

Maintenance & Technical Execution

  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance on facility assets, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and life safety systems.

  • Perform and oversee troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical and building systems (blockages, resets, small equipment, etc.).

  • Maintain and inspect equipment such as pallet jacks, conveyor systems, printers, and automation assets.

  • Ensure maintenance programs meet compliance and operational reliability standards.

  • Use technology to create, track, and prioritize maintenance work orders.

  • Support remodels, expansions, and special facility projects as needed.

Vendor & Asset Management

  • Oversee vendor contracts and ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective service.

  • Evaluate vendor performance; enforce accountability for service standards.

  • Identify and execute opportunities for in-house repairs to reduce external costs.

  • Partner with Procurement and Operations to manage service agreements and cost control.

  • Understand “repair vs. replace” decision-making and manage asset life cycles accordingly.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and schedule maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.

  • Communicate maintenance priorities and impacts to operations leadership.

  • Engage and educate new team members and leaders on property management priorities.

  • Foster collaboration with landlords, contractors, and local authorities for facility permits and compliance.

  • Model inclusivity and respect while creating an environment of trust and teamwork.

Cost & Efficiency Management

  • Track maintenance labor, parts, and repair costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Contribute to annual maintenance and capital budget planning.

  • Recommend and implement efficiency improvements that reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
     

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, property management, or industrial operations support

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

  • Experience leading or supervising maintenance teams

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety best practices

  • Proficiency in maintenance tracking systems and work order tools

  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage vendor relationships effectively

  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, and remain mobile during shifts
     

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or retail facility

  • Technical education or certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or safety disciplines

  • OSHA or similar safety certification

  • Experience managing facility systems across multiple locations
